Foam Control.
Biological foam control for wastewater
Thick, brown, stable foam on aeration basins and digesters is usually fed by grease and fatty organic material. Bio4FOGS helps reduce and control that foam by digesting what feeds it, instead of only knocking it down with defoamers.
Common problems
- Thick, stable foam spilling over aeration basins, clarifiers and digesters
- Ongoing spending on chemical defoamers that only treat the surface
- Foam that carries solids out of the process and hurts effluent quality
How we help
- Beneficial bacteria digest organic waste where it collects, instead of masking it with chemicals or fragrance.
- We recommend a product and dosing schedule based on your system and goals.
- Natural and biodegradable, with follow-up support from our team.
Where it is used
- Aeration basins
- Anaerobic digesters
- Clarifiers
- Lift stations
- Industrial process tanks
Frequently asked questions
What causes thick foam in wastewater systems?
Stable brown foam is often fed by fats, oils, grease and other organic material, which certain bacteria use to build foam on the surface of basins and digesters.
How is biological foam control different from a defoamer?
Chemical defoamers knock foam down at the surface and must be added again and again. Bio4FOGS works on what feeds the foam by digesting the grease and organic material, so foam is reduced and easier to keep under control.
Can we keep using defoamer while starting treatment?
Yes. Many sites keep their current defoamer while the biological program gets established, then reduce it as foam comes under control.
